CODINA LAB
COmmunity assembly, biological DIversity and multifuncioNAlity in a global change context
CODINA LAB
Led by Dr. Santiago Soliveres Codina
We study the relationships between biodiversity and ecosystem functioning, and how these change in response to multiple global change drivers. We focus mostly on dryland and Mediterranean ecosystems, trying to understand; i) the ecological mechanisms underpinning their vast diversity, ii) how changes in their biodiversity may alter ecological processes and their related services, on which we all depend on, iii) how natural, semi-natural and urban ecosystems respond to multiple and co-occurring global change drivers (climate change, land-use changes and intensification, pollution, wildfires and invasive species), and iv) how can we improve the management and restoration of these ecosystems to mitigate the effects of global change
